What drew me to read this book was its title: Naturopathic First Aid. As a doctor, I always am striving to provide natural, no-harm health care. However, I always have been challenged with what to stock in the medicine cupboard, what to take with me on the ski slopes or on a hike, and what to keep in the car just in case you or someone else requires first aid.

The challenge has been that there really isn't a concise book that helps you put together natural first-aid remedies - until now. What I liked about this book was the detail Dr. Karen Barnes uses in describing the variety of vitamins, minerals and herbs that can be used in first-aid treatment. Dr. Barnes draws on her knowledge of naturopathic medicine and experience as a mother of two healthy children to show how the healing power of nature can be used to treat the underlying causes of minor conditions requiring first aid. It is nice to know these are remedies and ideas that have been used by the author for her family.

There also is a nice alphabetical reference for different minor conditions; you can reference this list to help develop a first-aid strategy. Dr. Barnes also provides sources for getting natural first-aid products. Naturopathic First Aid really is a health bible for your home and office. Having it available to create new first-aid packs is a lifesaver. I highly recommend you purchase Naturopathic First Aid and start rebuilding your medicine cabinet - naturally.
